Mom & Me is a certified Title XX (20) provider through the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS), providing subsidized child care to assist working parents. For more information about this program, visit the ODJFS website.

A registration packet must be completed prior to enrolling your child at Mom & Me Academy to ensure the safety and well-being of your child while in our care. Once this packet is completed, we encourage you to bring your child in to meet the staff, tour our facility and get to know his/her new classmates. Please contact us and we will be happy to send the packet to you.

Quality child care includes a safe, nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional and cognitive development of young children. We strive to offer a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate according to the age and individuality of each child. We offer a balanced program that will help stimulate positive growth patterns through play, creative arts, motor skills development, socialization and reading readiness.

NOTE: Although we are located within Gateway Church’s facilities, Mom & Me Academy is not religiously affiliated and neither encourages nor discourages religion of any kind.

Our Staff

Vicki Starner
Miss Vicki is the school’s owner and on-site administrator and also works with the children daily. “This was a calling,” she said of her 30-plus years of providing child care. “As soon as I walked into a classroom, I knew it was where I was supposed to be.”  Miss Vicki has had several generations of children in her care. “That’s the greatest compliment I can receive – when the children I cared for remember and respect me enough to bring their own kids to me. What a rewarding feeling!” Miss Vicki has two grown daughters and several grandchildren, with whom she spends most of her free time.

Elizabeth Miller
Miss Elizabeth, who directs the preschool program at Mom & Me, was actually a student of Miss Vicki’s when she was in pre-school.  “I try to create a program where the kids can have fun in a structured way so that they can learn,” said Miss Elizabeth. “You have to be a big kid yourself to be able to do that.” Working with children “touches you everyday,” she said. “You can have the worst day and the minute you see the children, you forget all of your worries. It’s my goal that they feel safe, that they learn each day and that they love coming to Mom & Me. If I can accomplish those three things, I have been successful.”  Outside of the classroom, Miss Elizabeth is a cheerleading advisor and spends time with her husband and son.

Miss Darla is the lead teacher in the school age program, while also assisting in the Preschool when needed. Miss Darla has been in child care for 12 years and worked with children of all ages. She loves the hands on adventures that are possible with the older children, and the imagination they bring to the classroom. Outside the center Miss Darla is married and has 2 step daughters and 2 grandchildren. She loves the great outdoors and playing sports.

Mary Johnson
Primarily serving in an administrative role for Mom & Me after 40 years in day care, Mary has five children, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
